What the waitress did..

Going on a first date is supposed to be exciting, right? We all hope for that magical connection, maybe even fireworks. But the reality? Sometimes it’s far from perfect. Often, things get awkward, leaving you wishing you could disappear. The stories below are prime examples of how first dates can go terribly wrong, and you won’t want to miss these unbelievable tales.

1) Dinner Drama: How the Waitress Saved the Day

I had this first date with a girl who insisted we go to an upscale restaurant. She ordered a $25 appetizer, a $45 steak, and a $15 cocktail, which didn’t bother me at first—until she wouldn’t put her phone down. She kept answering calls and texting throughout the entire meal. It felt like I was eating alone! Then, something amazing happened. The waitress, who must’ve noticed how uncomfortable I was, motioned for me to come over. When I excused myself to go talk to her, she already had two separate checks ready and whispered, “Do you want to just pay your share and leave?” I couldn’t have been more grateful and replied, “Absolutely!” So, I paid my part and left her at the table. Best escape ever!

2) Dodgeball Disaster: An Exit on the Fly

This guy invited me and a friend to join him and his buddies for a game of dodgeball. We had never met his friends, but I thought it would be fun. As the game was about to start, we were hanging out in the parking lot. All seemed fine until, out of nowhere, he grabs a dodgeball and throws it directly at my crotch as hard as he could! To make it worse, he shouted, “Wham, bam, right in the clam!” Shocked and mortified, I turned to my friend and said, “Are you ready to leave?” We didn’t even make it to the game. I said goodbye and went home, only to receive a bunch of texts from him accusing me of being “immature.” Really?

3) Date with a Soldier: A Shocking Confession

I once went on a date with a guy from the military, and I was looking forward to hearing about his experiences. Well, instead of sharing anything meaningful, he spent most of the date comparing the strippers in Toronto to the ones in our city. When I tried to change the subject by asking if he ever volunteered while overseas, he abruptly said, “No way! I didn’t join the military to help people. I joined to kill people.” Stunned, I quickly grabbed my bill, downed my drink, and bolted out of there. Not the kind of confession I was expecting on a first date.

4) The Stalker Date: A Close Call

It only took about 10 minutes for things to get creepy. He started making inappropriate sexual comments and joked about stalking me if I decided not to see him again. Thankfully, the bartender noticed how uncomfortable I was and quietly let me slip out the back door. Dodged a bullet—literally.

5) Online Dating Nightmare: Running for Safety

I met this guy through a dating app. When he showed up, his pupils were as large as dinner plates, and he was acting super erratically. He told me he forgot his wallet, so I covered the first round of drinks. We were heading to a second bar where his friends would supposedly give him some cash. While walking, he rambled non-stop, including a story about how he tried to drown his ex’s chihuahuas. The moment he got on the phone to answer a call, I saw my chance. I told him I’d meet him inside the pub but instead sprinted straight home. No way was I staying for round two.

6) Boozy Lunch Date: A Quick Getaway

I had a 1 p.m. lunch date with a woman who, upon arrival, was already drunk as a skunk. She invited me back to her place and reassured me that her two-year-old son wouldn’t even notice. Nope, I was out of there. I called her a cab, sent her home, and breathed a sigh of relief that I escaped that situation.

In the world of first dates, things can go south fast. Hopefully, your next date won’t involve dodging dodgeballs or drunken midday adventures!
